Reviews
I'm using it for last 3 months and it's cheap and good phone.

It has a nice color display.
Base speaker is very loud and clear.
Handset is speaker is bit noisy when you put it in loud.
The base has a simple mute button but if you want to mute the handset you need go to phone menu to mute it.
Battery life is okay.
Answering machine is good and setup is very easy.
Overall a good phone at a good price.
after having this phone for a couple of months, the screen went completely blank, so I didn't have my caller id. Then, one day 6 months later, I dropped the phone really hard to the floor, adn the caller id and screen started working again. Also, this phone is uncomfortable to hold between your ear and shoulder with out using your hands.
This phone really isn't anything special, but it does the job. The ring tones are kind of cheesy & I've owned phones that were a lot more user friendly, but for $30, you can't beat it. A previous post stated that there was only a speakerphone on the base. That's incorrect. There's a speakerphone on the base & the handset. It does have a ton of features for a $30 phone.
Great phone with good features, but its the first one I ever bought that could not be wall-mounted. I had to re-arrange my desk to accomodate it. I Love the speakerphone on the handset though!
1. The handset speaker phone is broken after 2 months. It even lost its ringing function. Now it only works like a simple handset with caller ID.

2. The number pad on the base and handset are too tiny. It's very difficult to press the numbers, and requires you to press hard and hold down.

3. This is a 2.4GHz cordless phone, but it has bad reception. There is disturbing loud background hiss.

The rest of the functions are still okay. This is the 4th GE phone I owned, and this is the worst.
I've had these phones for about 6 months now and from day 1 the reception and interference has been horrible. The seller kindly exchanged the phones for me and I still have the same problem. Confusing, especially when the microwave is on. I realize some phones would have interference with a microwave, but from everything I read this particular model hadn't given anyone any problems in relation to this. Also, the buttons on all the phones aren't working anymore, specifically the the talk button and the center menu "key" buttons. I calle Uniden and I can have each phone fixed for $60.00 a piece. No thanks! Time to look for some new phones.
I have searched and compared price vs Quality. Well in this item you will get both. This is a great unit that requires no addition phone jacks. It also has a very good range. I have a 3300 sq foot home, with 3 levels and there is no place in the house that this phone does not work. The main phone is located in a small office room in the back of the house and surrounded by cement block, one upstairs, one in the garage and one in the main dinning room and still the clarity is perfect. I even took it outside and I was amazed at the range of this phone. It is small in size but I consider that a plus. It fits comfortably in your hand and its functions are a breeze to use. All in all this is a great buy. You will not be disappointed. Oh, yea, do not try to make an eight system set up.
I was very surprised at how small the handsets are. They are difficult to hold on to and if you need to rest them on your shoulder while doing something it's nearly impossible. In my opinion a phone that's used at home doesn't need to be as small as a cell phone.
Also after going through the owners manual 3 times I don't see where you can turn down the ringer volume other than from high to low. I'm also having problems getting the caller ID light function to work. It worked fine on the Uniden phone that I'm replacing with these. I can't get through to Uniden at all! I have tried calling 3 times and get nothing but recordings. Also one of the handsets in the 4 phone set isn't functioning, there is no dial tone.
Having said all that, there are some features that I do like about these phones. You can program one phone and then transfer all the numbers to the other handsets without having to program each set. I also like the speaker phone function.
This is the 4th Uniden phone I have purchased over the past 17 years and have never had a problem with any of them.
This is a product with good design and features, but the quality of the reception is not as high as I had expected compared to other models. The four unit set and compact design without an answering machine were the reason for purchasing this unit and has satisfied this need adequately.
Phones were easy to install and program. Very effective operation - even at 100 feet from the base unit. A good buy!
I ordered this phone several months ago and we've liked it for the most part. The only minor criticisms I have of the phone are these:

1. The buttons are a bit small.
2. The batteries don't hold a charge for long.

I'm not old enough to need bifocals, but I can imagine that folks with poor vision might have trouble pushing the correct buttons. Also, with two phones, the short charge period isn't a big deal. You can easily switch to the other phone if the one you're using runs out of a charge.
This was a gift for friends and they have been completely satisfied with it. My one friend has a severe hearing problem, but by adjusting the volume of the speaker and the ringtone he has had no problems. The phone book is very convenient, and it has many other handy features and settings. I have a similar model by Panasonic and am very pleased with mine.
Replaced a Uniden BCT648-3 with this Panasonic when my parents' Siemens cordless system failed (which I had given to them) and they needed a new cordless pronto. The Uniden was easy to use and performed v well in all aspects.
This particular Panasonic model is a let down from the Uniden. The handset is not user friendly; "talk" and "end" buttons are tiny on either side of a big silver cursor control. Changing settings (like turning the ringer off or changing volume) involve a labyrithine menu system not available while you're using the phone. If someone is unaccustomed to the phone, I have to dial it for them as it is just not intuitive.
The sound quality varies greatly, sometimes sounding as if you are underwater and this is unpredictable and not curable (even with "voice enhancement" which usually makes it worse).
The range is good (if it's not doing the aforementioned) and the answering machine easy to use and the base/answerer has a small footprint.
However, this is not an expandable phone; you get two handsets and that's it. I needed three in my current housing situation so I bought a cheap GE 27851 with three handsets for less money. It doesn't have a speakerphone or other features, but is simple to use and performs adequately.
i've owned panasonic cordless phones for quite some time now. this one has all the features i wanted, and performs nicely for the most part.

the only complaint i have is that one day the phone sound quality degraded a bit (tinny quality) -- i contacted tech support and they had me 'reset' the phone (unplug it, basically). fixes it for a while, but the problem returns.
I like this phone good range good battery and no noise would highly recommend it and the only thing was that it was a bit difficult to navigate through the menu and you may have to refer to manual to use all the options
We got this phone when we moved to a new house with only three phone jacks. The battery life has been great, as long as we put the cordless phones on the docks. The PhoneBook feature is fantastic. BUT...now I have lost use of the ON and OFF buttons on our most used handset. Making it nearly impossible to answer, or hang up a call. We haven't had any other issues, clear, loud and convenient, until 2 and a half years later.
I thought the quality on my phone was just fine, but the battery didn't last (replaced it in < 1 yr and now, 6 mos. later, the 2nd one is going) and the 2nd handset keep losing contact with the base. IN addition, the base is not what I consider wallmountable...since it juts off the wall a good 8-10 inches (and gets whacked by everyone that walks by). I would have expected more from motorola.

REgarding some other reviews, clearly people did not read their manual s or play with their phone, so I feel a need to clear a few things up:
1. phone not ringing on cordless hand set OR phone ringing too loudly on handset---> you can adjust each handset to high, medium, low, off, or a different ring. Each handset adjusts separately (my bedroom is on low, my family room is on high).
2. No volume control for earpiece --> There is an up/down controller on the side of the headset that allows for earpiece volume control.
We got this phone (base with two handsets) three years ago for close to $150. The reception was good, the base is solid. We love the walkie-talkie feature. But as many reviewers said the phonebook is annoying, no search function at all. That's not the worst, both handsets lost function of quite some buttons. One is impossible to use other than taking a call. I am not sure if Motorola is bad at this or what. I own a simple Motorola cell phone, which also has two keys lost function. In addition, the handsets had very short battery life, talking maximum 20 min. The phone including the base will not ring sometimes, I am not sure it's the problem of the phone or the phone service company (Vonage). Now we are looking to just change the handsets, not sure if other brands' handsets will work with this phone base.
after finally accepting the fact that Uniden phones are worthless, I decided to spend more money and go for a name I trusted, Motorola. But instead of getting a quality phone what I got was one of the worst phones I've ever owned. I don't even know where to start...

Sound quality wasn't great to begin with but after a few months it was mostly bad (echoes, interference, etc.).

The batteries immediately began to indicate that they were losing power as soon as they were removed from the charger. Though I noticed it immediately, I didn't think much of it at first. I assumed the phone software was just calibrated strictly to indicate loss of power. But now I'm looking at this phone that I've owned for over a year and the battery, after getting a full charge, will only last for maybe 10-20 mins!

The phonebook system is ridiculous - why didn't they just make it like a cellphone's? If you have lots of contacts, you must scroll through them all, there are no shortcuts within the phonebook system. The phone has two phonebooks (public and private), but you can't choose a default (the way the phonebook system is designed makes this 'feature' incredibly annoying).

I could go on and on... but why? Terrible reception; bad batteries; moronic phonebook interface should be enough to make anyone say 'NO'.. but believe me, it doesn't stop there.. there are numerous problems with this phone. TOTAL GARBAGE!!
This is absolutely the worst phone we've ever owned. The sound quality is terrible and the battery loses it's charge in just a few hours. Do not buy this phone. We're now looking for new phones to replace these.
For everyone who has this phone and was having trouble with adding the area code - I found the solution. When your looking at your caller id and it's a long distance number you can hit the # button to add the area code (if it isn't there already) and you can add the "1" before the area code and number by hitting *(tone) *woohoo* no more editing and redoing all the numbers before you add them to caller id!
this small size home phones works great, are good looking a has all the features you need, dont hesitate in purchasing. Not a good thing is the range!!
We got this phone a couple of months ago and are still not able to use it at all. Originally, we could not hear anything from this phone at all. Now only faint voice can be heard, but the only end still has no sound at all.

I spend hours reading the manual, but still can not make it work for us. Maybe it is a malfunctioning one. I would definitly NOT buy any Uniden products in the future.
When we first received these phones they were pretty good - the range is short but we could deal with that. After a few weeks the sound quality started to really decline (echos, breaking up, and static.). After 8 months the caller ID does not function on one handset and the sound quality on the other handset is so bad as to make it unusable.
The small size at first was cute but after awhile is very annoying and uncomfortable. I just ordered a panasonic set and can't wait to trash this set. I have been a loyal fan of uniden for many years but this product has shaken my confidence in there recent quality or lack there of.

This is a really good phone! Love the size and the handsfree features on each phone AND the base. Our last phone did not have that feature on the base and if the phone rang and we could not locate the handsets we could not answer the phone. Now we can! The reception is great and the volume features are easy to operate. We also got a killer price and prompt delivery. We are happy customers!
i few years back i wanted to buy a good quality cordless phone. I went to the store and purchased a motorola for over 100 dollars. You dont always get what you pay for because that phone was a peice of crap. it never held the time correctly and i had to buy replacement baterries twice within only 3 years. Then the number pad wore out and the phone was not even usuable.
Today I received my uniden phone. it was about 1/4 the price of my previous motorola. the phone is very nice looking, comfortable, and very easy to setup. Probably the best instruction manual i have ever read for an electronic, and it is in english only. Thanks Uniden
The best feature of this answering machine? It doesn't record junk phone calls. Otherwise, it is your run-of-the-mill answering machine. It answers calls and records messages. That is exactly what we wanted it to do and it does it.
We've used two high-end Panasonic phones over the last few years and they have been fantastic from a feature-set and quality viewpoint, but their reliability has been suspect. This Uniden phone is cheap, but is a great budget phone that we wholeheartedly recommend. It works well with a VOIP set-up.
The first week, I have put this phone to the test! And, it still works great! Great product for a reasonable price!
I have had NO problems with this unit whatsoever! The phone works great, with no static or other audio problems. People's voices come through loud and clear, with excellent audio quality, on both the phone itself and the answering machine/base unit. Range is excellent as well, and I have NO issues using the phone everywhere inside our 3 level house, and outside on the patio and in the driveway. Perhaps Uniden has made the latest version of this model to perform better than the older ones, given the one bad review below. Or maybe the reviewer was recieving external interference from other electronics in his house. In any case, this is a feature-rich, quality unit for an unheard of low price brand new! Buy this one with confidence.
This phone replaced a crummy GE cordless phone which was a piece of junk from the get go. The battery on my GE phone would literally last 15 min after being in the cradle overnight.

GE's customer service, or lack of it is a disgrace. A total piece of crap.

This Uniden phone on the other hand, is nicely made, clear, and has tons of features. The battery lasts very long as I was on a business call for 3 hours, and it still had a bit of power left. The fact it comes with 3 phones each, with their own cradle and power supply is an extra feature, well worth the money.

I also like the record a phone call feature but wish it was longer than 10 min and did not have that annoying beep every 15 seconds.

Panasonic used to make great cordless phones years ago that would record your phone conversations and allowed you to REMOVE the beep.

I was able to do that and record a phone call that came in handy for a lawsuit. I won it partly because I had the taped phone conversation!

I wish more phone companies had this feature without the beep. Since the creep who I sued did not know I was recording our conversation, he gave me all the help I needed for my lawsuit against him.

Thanks Panasonic for that!

For now, this Uniden phone is worth the money for the features and the 3 phones you get. Not bad ;)
I work form a home office and have both my home line and my office line though this phone. It is true that the phone does not stay on the last line used, if you want to use line 2 you must first choose the 'L2' button. It is also true that the battery that came with my remote handset would not hold a charge and require constant charging. I purchased two new batteries (one for the handset and one for the base unit) and thess new batteries hold a charge much longer and the battery in the base unit keeps the phone working even in a power outage. As for the answering system cutting off messages, I don't use the answering machine option I use Voicemail from my provider so I have not experienced that problem. It has a lot of nice features including my personal favorite, call waiting caller id. I use it with a headset and it's really userfriendly (this also eliminates any concern over what line you are using since you have to push buttons anyway). I have been using this phone for over three years and I'm very satisfied.
The single most import feature is call quality and it is exceptional. One thing I don't see in may of these reviews is a comment about the price and that has to be a consideration when shopping for anything. If the phone cost $400.00 it might only get 3 stars but at this price point and with all the features you get who can complain? At this price I have to give it 5 stars.
We had to return this phone because the answering function worked on line 2 but not line 1
I like this phone a lot. I use it for my business.I use a headset, so there is a jack on both the base and cordless unit. The only thing I DON'T like is the manual doesn't exlain things clearly and getting a tech support person is impossible. Its ALL menu's, NO option for a LIVE person, so if you buy this phone and neec tech support or even to help set it up as I had to, click option 1 then option 2 (to purchase a phone) and ask for a tech support person, you are connected right away.
- I woke up one morning to find my two cordless units with message "Searching for Base"

- On the base unit, I hit the DEREGISTER ALL option

- The display unit of the answering base shows the following message:
E 2562
M51 S51 FDXI
May 15, 2002
14:12:06

All keys are totally dysfunctional. I tried plugging into a different location after 5 minute gaps and all other options.

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE:
They asked me to try plugging the answering machine base into other locations around the house after removing batteries from the cordless units.

Unfortunately I barely ran out of warranty to take advantage of the warranty replacement process.

Please advise if there is a fix for this.

I obviously misspent $199 + $75 for the second cordless unit.

I actually find the sound quality and range pretty good, but I think the system is designed poorly. I can't tell you how many times I have been on the phone and wanted to scroll through my caller ID to get a number for someone I was talking to. No dice, it won't do that. There are a number of issues like that. I can't program it to prefer line 2 to make calls. You may think this is a not a big deal, except I don't like to reveal the line 1 number to my clients via there caller ID. So there went my private line.

Also the belt clip is worthless and after what seemed like hours on the customer support line they want to charge me $5.00 to replace it even though the phone is still under warranty. I'll try a different brand next time.
I have had this phone for three years and the batteries are starting to go, which is really good for three years, but I am not getting it again because it's interfering with our wireless computer network. If that's not an issue, it's been a really good, really reliable phone!
Its good so far. I have gifted it to someone in India. Its working fine, the main motivation of buying this model was the intercom feature -- and that is working fine.

However, there is problem about with Caller ID, it is not working.
GREAT FAETURES , DIRECTIONS EASY TO UNDERSTAND, DOES EVERYTHING IT SAYS IT WILL DO.. GREAT RANGE; MUCH SMALLER AND COMPACT THAN AN OLDER VERSION OF THE SAME MODEL. GOOD BUY! :)
I like the phone but have 2 minor complaints. The buttons are quite small and are a little difficult to punch accurately. Second, the buttons are not backlit, so they cannot be seen in the dark. I need to make calls in the middle of the night, so this is an annoyance for me. The reception and battery life are good.
Dual Handsets from Panasonic are really good and nice looking. Good battery life and very good sound quality.
muy buena opcion, tiene buena memoria y esta muy bonito, tiene buena fidelidad y cobertura.
Bought this one a couple of weeks back. It is a decent phone, with standard features. There is a slight noise in the cordless handset sometimes, but that is not very often. The speaker is quite good, and so is the mic.
Neither the base unit nor the cordless phone were satisfactory in terms of sound quality. The answering machine was often unintelligible. I would take note of the fact that Amazon's current price is approximately 50% of the list. I like bargains, but in this case I suspect it is a matter of not being able to sell the stock on hand -- for a good reason.
I purchased this phone and got a great deal. I'm very happy with my phone and its excellent quality.
I found the directions for programming this machine to be almost incomprehensible. Using trial and error and blessed with a little luck , I made it happen. The machine is far too complex for my tastes. It tries to do all things for all users and not too well. Another complaint is that when you have the speaker -phone on , and you dial a number using the directoory, there is no way to lower the sound volume. I complained to Tech Services and they promised me an answer. That was several weeks ago. I think I hit a nerve here.
I feel lucky after reading the other reviews regarding the life of this headset's battery. When I purchased my third battery thru Amazon, it lasted about 50 weeks under light use. Not bad in comparison to other reports on the same headset... At a 75 yard distance; my conversations were as clear as a bell. During its last 3 months of life, the battery could barely hold a charge for 8 minutes and the charge indicator showed full charge just before cutoff.

The main set is a very good unit. Voice calls and messages are routinely very clear. The display date and time, constantly blinks; making for an annoying and difficult to read experience.

The KX-TG2548S phone is a sign of the times. Design something for two years life and/or make products with proprietary replacement parts. Companies think they can control customer loyalty rather than support good will. Panasonic is selling their name off, at a high premium and to their customers dismay. Doesn't have to be like this, you know. Move Panasonic down your list of acceptable vendors and give another company a chance for your loyalty. You young folks don't realize how expensive cutting engineering and quality control can be, and how the 'latest and greatest' does not mean better.
After past success with Panasonic cordless phones I felt that it was worthwhile to spend the extra money and purchase this 'deluxe' unit. One thing that put me over the top was the $50 mail-in rebate at the time. In the end I paid about $100 for this phone.

Before I go over the problems I will give credit where credit is due.
-The volume on the base unit is good.
-The speaker phone is clear and as loud as you want it.
-The cordless unit has a plug in for a headset.
-There are other base unit features that somebody might have a use for. I am not sure who.

OK, now the bad parts.
-The first battery for cordless unit was toast after 10 months of relatively light use.
-The base unit is CORDED, so it has limited uses.
-You can't scan your calls from the cordless unit.
-The base unit does not work well when wall mounted. Hard to see, hard to use.
-Battery for cordless unit is impossible to find and expensive.
-Volume on cordless unit is too low when you use a headset.
-Second battery has lasted only three months after regular use.

Right now I have two options: (1) Buy another battery for this unit, (2) buy another cordless phone. Most of the negatives that I have stated above are somewhat easy to work around. I just don't expect to have to work around issues on a $170 phone. The real show-stopper is the battery (cost, availability, and life). I purchased a $35 Motorola for my mother about 18 months ago and the battery just ran out, her penchant for yacking notwithstanding. I guess that I am going to cut my losses and get a decent phone.

If you are looking for a deluxe phone, unless you can get this one for about $30, I would avoid it like the plague.
It is not convinient to work with direct dialing through cordless set. There are only 3 direct dialing numbers available - should be at least 10 for our days. THE WORST THING of this phone battery in the cordless set are dying within 5 minutes. In the begining Battery was holing the charge for abt half an our. After about 6 month of using I can not make a call - battery dies as soon as I am starting to dial the number.
This is a very nice base unit coupled with a worthless handset. I have returned the whole system once to Panasonic and replaced the battery three times in one year. It has always been charged according to directions. Apparently, this model is the victim of short sighted engineering. Stay away unless you have a garage full of expensive batteries for the handset!
While Panasonic is consistently the most highly recommended cordless phone by electronics salespeople, this is my THIRD failure with Panasonic. While I have few problems with the corded wall mount unit, the handset has not held a charge for more than a 10 minute conversation after approximately 3 months old (after the store warrantee expired) and I am unable to say more than 'hello' on it now, before it dies out now. I have returned the phone once within the store warrantee and I have replaced the batteries twice in 2 years, which are hard to find and costly. Panasonic customer service has been neither helpful nor sympathetic to my problem. I am now researching a variety of less 'recommended' cordless phones...
I have owned this phone system for 5 months. The battery began failing on one handset (the mainly used one) after about 3 months. It does not hold a charge very long and constantly needs recharching. The "Talk" Button has completely worn off down to the plastic and is no longer readable. The sound is good and have not had reception problems or interference. Mainly I am dissapointed with the battery issue and the build quality.
My three star rating is an average. The answering machine is a four, maybe even a five, but the phones are a two.

Fortunately, we mainly use it for answering, and for that it's just fine. Sound is clear (no garbled messages so far) and both set-up and everyday use are easy. No batteries, and everything stays in memory after power failure. Quite nice, actually.

The phones are another matter. They are uncomfortable and sound is tinny. Fine for short conservations, but over five minutes you'll want to switch to another phone.

But, for the price we're okay with it. We use the phones for the bedrooms (where we keep our answerer anyway) and have a better (discontinued) GE model on the the main living room extension.

Unless you want to have the same kind of setup, look elsewhere.
This phone is going back. We bought it about 4 days ago, and have come to the conclusion, that we'll cuss it everytime we have to use it.<br /> <br /> The sound is awful. Lots of echo. And no matter how high you turn up the handset volume, you still can't hear the other person in the call clearly. You have to press the handset to your ear, and the poor design of the earpiece is very uncomfortable.<br /> <br /> Don't let the cheap price fool you, you get what you pay for with this phone. :(
unless you're confined to one room..this phone is really not that great..

1. horrible reception! once i go downstairs, i start hearing significant amount of static. not only that, there's a very loud and sharp feedback when i move my head/phone.

2. bad receiver. the other person is always complaining that they can never hear me. when i speak at my normal tone on my old cordless phone, or even my cell phone, people never say that they can't hear me.

3. in addition to number 2, the only way i can hear the other person is if i put the volume on maximum. thats fine except when i dial numbers. you can dial like a cell phone, where you push all the numbers in first, then press talk. well when i do that on this phone, the tones are painfully loud! so basically, when i dial, i have to lower the volume so it doesnt hurt my ears. then when the person picks up, i have to raise the volume so i can hear them talking. what a hassle

overall i don't recommend buying this phone. everything about it is just sub par.
Great price, good looks, cool design, nice features.

The only problem is ... I can't hear anything using either handset. Will return to the store for refund...although it was a great deal on BF.
Uniden DCT756-2 Expandable Cordless System with Call Waiting/Caller ID and Extra Handset and Charger
Great product. I wish I had ordered it months ago. The phone and all of its features are great including the speakerphone option. I can't complain about the price and the delivery was very, very, timely.
Great Deal.. About a year later still works great.. Batteries stay charged and I have them off base for days or weeks
I buy this phone when we were moving to a new house, so I can use extra handset upstaires. I did not try it untill after a month, when I moved to new place I tried it. But the second handset doesn't work. It rings but when you pick-up the phone you will just here horrible loud sounds. I contect the staples, but it was more then a month they said they can't do anything about that. So I contected uniden's customer service. They had a horrible customer survice. When I buy this phone I think this was a good deal, but now I tossed it just in my basement. And may be next time when I clean my basement it's going to be in trash. his phone eeven doesn't deserve 1 star, but I can't give it less then one star. If you are planning to buy phone, just spend little more money and go for panasonic. I am using one for 4 years now, and I buy another one with extra handsets from panasonic, and it's working great.
I was worried these phones might be bad because of the low price but they are great. I use them in a single level home and I've had no problems and no complaints. Considering they cost way less than similar phones I'd recommend these to anyone who doesn't need an answering machine.
This cheap phone works like a cheap phone and sounds like a cheap phone. Amazing! If this is all you can afford, any $20-$25 corded phone will give better service.
I am very dissapointed with the transmitting and receiving range of the phone. The reception quality begins to degrade at about 25 feet. I can not use the phone at the opposite end of my small house! The voice quality is fair to good. I have been a die-hard Panasonic fan for years but after this and a seperate purchase of an unrelated Panasonic product (alarm clock) that I am dissapointed with, I am beginning to question all their products.
I bought this a few weeks ago and expected it to provide the same if not better quality than my old 900MHz Panasonic, which started dying prematurely after 3 years of little use, but I was surprised to find this phone to be worse than my old one. There's a constant loud hiss that can be heard when using the phone. I tested it against another 900MHz Panasonic at home and validated that it wasn't the phone line. In addition, the same loud hiss can be heard even with the intercom feature. I really like the built in lcd in the handset, which allows easy access to recently dialed numbers and a phone book but the quality of the call is more important to me than the features however nice they are; after all it is a phone! I'm not sure what to move on to now since it doesn't seem that manufacturers make 900Mhz anymore... oh well, the search continues.
I am using this phone from past 3 months & not yet faced any problems. It is working fine.
Hi,
I purchased this item NEW, had it sent directly to my daughter and although the base works the headset did not. Guess now we know why there are so many refurbished ones out there. I contacted the seller and they want it returned prior to replacing it, which is bull, so I tossed it in the garbage where it belonged, went to Walmart and got a better and cheaper one. This is what I should have done in the first place but I didn't want to bother with shipping it.

The way the original photo of the product was depicted gave me the impresion that an extra (extension) handset was part of the deal. I saw a same product in our local store for $5 dollar less, minus $8.95 shipping cost! Also when I called the dealer for the return of the product (because it is not working) I made responsible for the extra shipping cost for exchange. So, I decided to forget it!
The good: The answering machine is nice, with simple features that are easy to use. It's cheap (in price): we didn't want a fancy phone, just something functional.

The bad, VERY bad: CHEAP (in headset quality). Like some others noted, it is difficult to hear the person on the other end. There have been occasions where we couldn't hear them at all. There is no way to increase the volume further. Even right next to the receiver you often cannot hear anything.

Bottom line: Spend a little bit more and buy another phone....we have to. This one is going in the garbage (would feel guilty selling it at the garage sale...or even giving it away)
The reception of the phone rapidly decreased over distance. Clear phone conversations could only be held in the same room as the base unit.
great product as advertised 2 years now and still no problems. my really old model unidens also still work ! !
Hi
The item sent was NOT the exact item i requested and i didnt have time to mess with this. Very dissappointed. If it was suppose to interact with the item I requested, it did not
Glad you sent this to me

I gave this item 1 star because Ace Digital is the seller and they sent me the wrong phone, didn't check into getting me the correct phone and after 3 phone calls to them to try to order the correct phone, I just bought it somewhere else. Then upon returning the phone to Ace Digital, they tried to charge ME for the shipping!
Teriffic phone for the price, make life eaiser by haveing many handsets around the house.
I bought these mainly to use it as secondary phone and pager in the house. It works very well for this purpose. It is a bit small, but that is not much of a porblem.
I've had this for couple of years now and probably the best phone overall that I've owned. It has wealth of features, easy to configure and operate. Small size makes it pocketable, battery lasts forever, the range is good, and sound is good with no noticeable noise. I have had no conflicts with wireless networks.
It took months for me to figure out where to position the base so that the handsets wouldn't conflict with my wireless internet. Once I figured that out, this phone system has worked great.

I especially like the intercom feature. Now I can call my kids from any room of the house.

But most astonishing is that we actually had a handset survive a dishwasher cycle. I opened my dishwasher last week to empty the clean dishes, and found a handset on the top rack, dripping... I just knew it was toast, although when I pushed the buttons it seemed to try to work.

I quickly took the battery out and placed it and the phone (open battery compartment) into the dehydrator for 24 hours. It worked as it always had! Amazing.

I'll bet my cell phone couldn't do that.
This phone system is great.
I just bought my 2nd set, so the house has six phones now :)
I bought my first set about two years ago with no problems.
The only drawback on these phones, there is no Mute button.
But, the phone does have mute...you just have to hit the menu button, then select mute on the menu, so you get mute with two key strokes.

I still recomend this phone system.
This set works nicely, especially if you don't have phone jacks everywhere you want to put a phone.
My second set since my baby trow the first one in the pool, not water resistance I guess?. I love all the features no regrests the best phone set i ever owned.
The phone has all the required features for a cordless phone, reception is clear, caller ID is programmable to customize the name of the incoming call for family and friends.

Only complaint is that the AC plug slips out of the main base a little too easy and can cause you to lose connection, but if the base is in a stationary place, no problem at all.
I thought since this was a German product it would be smart and high quality but if Siemen's made cars they would Chrysler K-cars or Yugos at best - NOT BMW's. Aside from the completely unintuitive interface my base station display began to systematically disappear, until now, where I find myself two years down the road shopping for a new phone system because the display only has about 5 working pixels which means I can't change the message since I can't navigate the stupid menus. Yesterday it quit ringing which is sort of the icing on a very stale cake.

If you buy this phone you will be sadly disappointed in time - there's no way this company is German...
This thing has everything: Quality, features, design, performance. Why people have any complaints about this amazing product is beyond me.
As with all products, read the manual. Then, enjoy and explore all you can do with this system.
I've had this phone system for about 4 years now, and I haven't had the majority of the problems others have. The screen on the base phone has a line across it, but i am still able to see who is calling. Also the rechargers cannot recharge the phone unless I put a penny between the back of the phone and the charger.
I have gotten the cordless phones wet, dropped it in water, dropped repeatedly on the ground and never had to replace them. And I bought them refurbished!
It lacks an external antenna and the rounded shape of the ear piece make it extremely comfortable, even after hours of talk time.
The batteries last a long time, and after 4 years I still have the original ones. Since the phone requires AA, they can be changed with any you have around the house in an emergency (but take them out before you put the phone back on the charger unless they are NIMH)
Maybe what Siemens needs is a class action lawsuit. I also owned an 8825, same bad experience as shared by other owners.
I bought this phone system about two years ago at the insistence of my fiance at the time (now wife) so we could combine our phone systems after we moved in together. She loved the style and features of the phone (she works from home) and I had to agree - it was attractive with nice features.

Shortly after we moved in together and combined the system, the problems began. First, one of our two base unit's display failed, then the other base unit line 1 failed (line open - cannot hang up). We used the other one to replace the mother board and it worked fine for about six months, when that mother board (again, line 1) failed again. We purchased another base set on eBay to replace the one we had, and kept some of working parts from the other two base stations just in case. Sure enough, the display began to fail, so we replaced it with the one remaining, then sure enough, the motherboard failed. By this time, we noticed it seemed to fail around the time we had power outages (fairly common in the DC area). We purchased another base station and put it on a surge protector. Maybe four months later, it failed as well, again due to a power surge and despite the fact it was on a surge protector. This unit is unacceptably succeptable to power surges. My wife and I actually had discussed that that was the last base we would purchase, but she forgot and purchased another (yes, our fifth). Died this morning, after a power outage, again.

We've also had problems with the handset. We could never get one of them to synch to a couple of the bases, and the popping & cracking from our wireless LAN is both unbelievable and unacceptable.

Tomorrow my wife is going to go out and get the Panasonic 5.8 - we've read nothing but good stuff about it, have some other Panasonic equipment, and have been very happy (actually the phone I had before the Siemens was a Panasonic, and it worked flawlessly until I accidentally dropped it in the toilet).

Bottom line - this is trash, avoid it at all costs and if anyone has the gumption to file a class-action lawsuit against Siemens under our consumer lemon laws - sign me up.
I am well pleased with this phone. For the price, you can't get more features. The sound is very good. It even has 3 separate tone qualities than can be changed mid-conversation to maximize sound. My last phone was a Uniden (900 MHz) and it was abused for years (still works.) This was an upgrade for us with many neat features: 1. handsets can be used as "walkie-talkie's" 2. Illuminated keypad 3. last 3 number redial 4. speakerphone 5. room monitor, and many more. I compared this model against several other comparable brands 'side by side' and this one won overall. After using it, I KNOW I made the right choice.
Bought this to replace a larger system after lightening struck the base of the old one. The extra handsets from the old set were easily programmed to expand this system (but only to a total of 4 handsets.) This has lots of features, good reception, clarity and hearing volume. Shipped quickly by Amazon without problems.
For the price, we couldn't find a better phone. The extra handset is nice, as well as the room monitoring feature. Great buy!
In my opinion, this system is designed to function very awkwardly:

1) The memory seems to reside in each individual handset rather than in the base unit. As a result, when you clear the Caller ID #'s showing on one handset, the old calls remain on the other handset. So you have to clear each handset's memory separately.

2) This lack of communication between the base unit and the handsets also means that the telephone book on one handset does not share information with another handset unless you invoke a separate global function to add the new number to the other handset.

3) The manual states that "Your phone shares memory between your Phonebook and Caller ID entries" but that is misleading. If a call comes in from someone in you phone book, for instance, someone you have in the phone book as "GALE WORK", caller ID displays the phone company's ID (company name or even "Caller Unknown") instead of the label in your phone directory. Another example, "GALE CELL" from your phone book would show "VIRGINIA CALL" or (I assume) that people in your phone book with unlisted numbers would not be identified either.

4) This phone is not capable of monitoring a dial tone either. There are two results of this lack. One result is that, if you are on line, the handset does not display a "Line in Use" warning. The other result is that the phone is incapable of indicating when there is a message in a phone company mail box. I rely on the mail box to pick up messages while I am on line.

5) If you need to mount this phone on a wall, take a look at the pictures I have posted to determine whether the appearance is acceptable to you. And the answering machine faces upward, making it hard for short people like me to see the buttons on the answering machine.

6) Be prepared for a long wait if you want to talk to a Uniden service rep.

The only redeeming feature of this phone is the good voice quality. Feedback on this website regarding voice quality is what sold me on this brand, but the annoying beeping on my old Olympia is starting to seem preferable to the shortcomings in the design of this Uniden.
For the price, these are good phones. They have a lot of features.
Well... this WAS a great phone and answerer, rated highly by Consumer Reports. The voice quality was always good and the speaker phone option worked well. Sometimes it was difficult to understand messages played back on the base but that may have been as much fault of the caller as it was the phone base itself. Overall it was a good buy ($39.95 at the time) while it lasted. But as luck would have it, my wife and I went out of town for a week and when we came back, no worky-worky. I've narrowed it down to a problem in the base itself. The base (i.e. the answerer) is in a continuous "off-hook" condition even with the power unplugged. Since today is October 19th, anyone want to venture a guess as to when the 1-year limitted warranty expired? That's right, October 14th! This couldn't have happened at a worse time since I'm currently trying to get my house on the market and having an answerer is vital. So tomorrow, I'm going out to get a new phone and answerer combo (the UNIDEN DECT 1080-2).
Everything is fine except if you dial by pushing the buttons too fast it doesn't take them at all, doesn't make the connection, and you have to hang up and start over. Don't buy this phone if you are ever in a hurry.
This phone has one of the highest ratings from Consumer Reports for a single-phone with an answering system. Everything is as advertised. I have issues with three things: The screen on the handset isn't back-lit and it is difficult to read for Caller-ID and from the phone book; there is not a way to turn the ringer off completely; and adding listings to the phone book is difficult because instead of being able to move the cursor to the beginning of a phone number to add a "1" you must erase backwards and reenter the phone number. Sounds like I do have issues with the phone, but despite these things, it is a very reliable and easy-to-use phone.
This phone was unable to complete half of its originated calls. The phone was returned for refund
I would buy this again and recommend it to anyone needing this type of equipment.
AT&T E2126 - 2.4GHz Cordless Ansering System with Caller ID & Call Waiting
This is the best phone I have ever bought this is actually the 3rd time I have bought the same phone.
One of the cheapest phones I've seen with all the options.
I purchased extra phones so I had 4 phones total running off this system.

Phones lasted quite a long time in my house. We're pretty bad at tossing phones around to each other so we go through phones every couple of years normally.

I've replaced a lot of Panasonic phones in my time. These phones lasted 3-4 years and I'm actually still using them.

After all this time some of the buttons are starting to be testy. Having to push hard to get them to work. But again, many years of abuse. Battery life was and is still good. Batteries were replaced once.

highly recommend this product if you can still find it.
Though I charged the hand set for more than 15 hours, it did not work. So I have to send it back. Amazon did a excellent service.

I should have known I own a convenience store and my phone card vendor talked me into these remanufactured nokia phones sort of like tracfone. They sold really well but the problems customers had with the phones, like holding a charge or reception was beyond my control and the vendor would not accept the responsibility of rectifying the situation
I had this phone for nearly 3 years and just recently it got struck by lightning and doesn't work anymore. I went and bought 2 phones that same night at Walmart (they didnt have these vtechs), they were panasonic I believe ...and all 3 were GARBAGE. Made me miss my vtech even more.

I've dropped this phone plenty of times, had water splashed on it, and other hazards of the home and it still worked perfectly. Never a drop out, never static, never any buzzing when walking outside.

I'll be buying a brand new base and extensions soon.
I can't stand this phone! The volume level cannot be adjusted... much. And the calls are WAY TOO loud. When I get a buzz to let me know someone is trying to reach me while I'm on the other line, it's so loud it makes my ears ring. It's painful. And I have it set on low (you can only set it to low, medium and high... nothing in between). After using the phone for about a month (I got good at holding it away from my ear), the calls now are too low to hear. The call intereupt noise is still painfully loud, but the voice on the other end of the line is almost too low to hear. Also, when I receive a call, about 1 in 4 times the handset doesn't pick up... instead it makes an awful screeching sound right in my ear... I absolutly despise this phone. Today my 11-month-old daughter tossed it into the dog's water dish... and killed it. I'm so happy.
This phone has useful features and good sound quality (except message playback on the answering machine), but is very hard to use. The button combinations you must push to do simple things like add a number to the phone memory or call a number from the caller ID list baffle me, and I am quite a tech savvy person. I am returning this phone because the display stopped working one day after I set it up, not to mention it's complete user-unfriendliness.
I PURCHASED THIS PHONE AND NOW MY BATTERY IS FAULTY AFTER ONLY HAVING IT FOR THREE MONTHS AND TO MY SURPRIZE I CAN'T FIND A REPLACEMENT BATTERY. IT IS A SHAME BECAUSE I LIKED THE DESIGN.
SO NOW I AM NOT SURE IF BELL SOUTH IS MY NEXT SELECTION FOR MY FUTURE PHONE.
Need I say more? Noise, echo, static. Not user friendly.
This phone is great. The reception is as clear as a bell. The caller id on call waiting is great, let's you know who is calling while you are already on the phone. If it is not an important call you don't have to interupt your call that you are already on. Has alot of extra features that are convenient. There are 4 mailboxes each with thier own ext. #. So everyone in the home can recieve their own messages. Also has remote access to each mailbox. It even tells you if another extension line is in use so you don't have to interupt a family members call, simply wait until they are done to use the phone. Can't say enough you'll have to but it and try it yourself.
I've had this phone and answering machine, plus a few additional handsets and base chargers, and they've worked fine for years. I liked the system so well that when the original phone was dropped one too many times and the buttons stopped working well, I bought a replacement phone on ebay. It's been great for probably five or six years, but now it's finally on its way out, the answering machine charger has stopped charging the phone properly. But I think five or six years is a great lifespan for this system, and I can drag it out another year or so probably by just using the separate base charger to charge the phone rather than the answering machine.
Sound quality on the answering machine is so poor that you can't understand what's being said when people leave a message. User interface is terrible -- the buttons don't respond properly, so you end up dialing the wrong number frequently; if you don't enter information fast enough, it times out and clears the display before you save or dial; if you wait too long after a message to hit the delete button, the phone deletes everything in the mailbox... I HATE these phones and the answering machine!
I needed a new answering machine and wanted a cordless handset. This system is perfect for our needs and was a great value to boot.
A real nice cordless phone. A good display with lots of easy to use features. I would have liked the display to be a little brighter but it still is way better than the vtech it's replacing. It's the little brother of the number one multi handset unit as rated by Consumer Reports. So far, the sound has been crystal clear on all calls. I really like the speakerphone in the handset. I also like getting messages via the handset. The digital AND analog clock in the handset display is great when you're out in the yard and forgot your watch.
