i few years back i wanted to buy a good quality cordless phone. I went to the store and purchased a motorola for over 100 dollars. You dont always get what you pay for because that phone was a peice of crap. it never held the time correctly and i had to buy replacement baterries twice within only 3 years. Then the number pad wore out and the phone was not even usuable.
Today I received my uniden phone. it was about 1/4 the price of my previous motorola. the phone is very nice looking, comfortable, and very easy to setup. Probably the best instruction manual i have ever read for an electronic, and it is in english only. Thanks Uniden
The best feature of this answering machine? It doesn't record junk phone calls. Otherwise, it is your run-of-the-mill answering machine. It answers calls and records messages. That is exactly what we wanted it to do and it does it.
We've used two high-end Panasonic phones over the last few years and they have been fantastic from a feature-set and quality viewpoint, but their reliability has been suspect. This Uniden phone is cheap, but is a great budget phone that we wholeheartedly recommend. It works well with a VOIP set-up.
The first week, I have put this phone to the test! And, it still works great! Great product for a reasonable price!
I have had NO problems with this unit whatsoever! The phone works great, with no static or other audio problems. People's voices come through loud and clear, with excellent audio quality, on both the phone itself and the answering machine/base unit. Range is excellent as well, and I have NO issues using the phone everywhere inside our 3 level house, and outside on the patio and in the driveway. Perhaps Uniden has made the latest version of this model to perform better than the older ones, given the one bad review below. Or maybe the reviewer was recieving external interference from other electronics in his house. In any case, this is a feature-rich, quality unit for an unheard of low price brand new! Buy this one with confidence.
Having a compact combination clock radio and cordless phone together is a GREAT idea and this GE model certainly looks very nice sitting on the nightstand. The handset feels nicely ergonomic and lightweight, with lighted buttons and display, handy for night time calls, although situating it on the base can be a bit unwieldy due to it only going back in one direction. The radio station preset buttons are a nice touch although pushing on the smaller buttons tends to make the whole unit move. This phone has a really oddball ringtone, kind've a slow, alternating two pitch sound, weird. It has a handy red LED that flickers to let you know you've received a call when your out and the caller ID displayed on both the handset and base is a nice feature. Now to the absolute deal breaker on this phone....the base unit's LCD display. On the highest setting, this thing is so bright it could steer a ship in from the fog! It's like nightlight on steroids, not something you want 10 inches from your head at night lol...there are 3 dimmer settings, the next lowest is better, but still way too bright especially if light bothers you at night, as it does me...the lowest setting is nearly tolerable, but then the numbers and text are so dim you have to squint to see them unless your really close to it. Even on the lowest setting, I have to prop the manual up in front of the display to keep the light out! LCD background light is just not a good idea for a bedside display. If they'd skipped the hip looking blue background lighting, and just used blue, green or red LED's for the numbers and text, this would be so much more practical.
This item is terrible for the bedroom! It lights up the whole bedroom unless you turn the blue background down and then you can't even see the numbers. It is also very difficult to set the alarm, radio station for the alarm, etc. Not user friendly at all! We will be moving it to a bedroom that is not used. Money wasted.
I bought this as an addition to my Uniden 738-3T system as the fourth phone. The handsets are very nice quality and the only 2.4 Ghz units that I have run across that do not seem to suffer from interference problems with WiFi stuff and other phone. The sound quality is top notch and the speakerphone works very well. The features are outstanding and the only thing that is missing is a headphone jack. This unit also uses about 1/2 the electricity of the one it replaced. Maybe not that big a deal to most, but since it is plugged in 100% of the time, it probably save a few bucks in electricity per year.
The design is very simple and the phone itself has pretty much everything you'd need in a basic cordless phone - speakerphone, caller ID, selection of ringtones, phonebook, voicemail box. It's very light and takes up very little room, and so far seems durable. I'd recommend this to just about anyone. It's a safe bet, and you'll get all the basic features you want.
I have had this phone for two years and it is a completely functional phone and answering machine. The only problem with the answering machine is that when you turn up the volume on the answering machine, the sound distorts but this is only at a pretty high volume. I would definately buy one again.
Don't buy this phone. We got three for our wedding and ALL of them died on us--including the answering machine!
This phone is so cute ! It sounds clear and is the perfect size for little hands.
(...)I thought that my daughter would really like this phone mainly because it was cordless. However, after charging the phone, we could not hear or speak in the headset. The only thing this phone does well is RING!. Please do not not spend your money on this phone. It is only useful if you want to use it to decorate a room!
I agree the other parents that this phone is a waste of money. It interferes with the phone line and dies in the middle of calls. In the middle of the night it beeps for no reason, and then cuts off the phone line. It also does not have a long range from the base. I have not figured out how to use the features to store phone numbers, etc and we have hadthe p[hone for almost a year and a half. I ended up buying her a new "corded" phone for Christmas.
I am sorry to say that this phone is worthless. I regret purchasing this phone for my girls. The battery does not charge, it messes up the phone line by making it really hard to hear on normnal phone, I know because as soon as I unplugged this phone, the line was cleared of all static. If you want to get them a cordless phone, get them a decent one NOT this one. We are VERY disappointed.
I too purchased this phone for my daughter but for Xmas. She loves it but I have the same problem. The battery pack it came with won't charge and I still haven't found a replacement. I am very disappointed in this phone.
I needed a new answering machine and wanted a cordless handset. This system is perfect for our needs and was a great value to boot.
A real nice cordless phone. A good display with lots of easy to use features. I would have liked the display to be a little brighter but it still is way better than the vtech it's replacing. It's the little brother of the number one multi handset unit as rated by Consumer Reports. So far, the sound has been crystal clear on all calls. I really like the speakerphone in the handset. I also like getting messages via the handset. The digital AND analog clock in the handset display is great when you're out in the yard and forgot your watch.
