Reviews
I bought mine for $215.00 almost 4 years ago, and it still works GREAT! I was a long-haul truck driver, and I needed something that didn't take up too much space. I used it on my truck for 2 years, and it worked well even when the truck was moving (CDs, you know). I especially like the fact that.it will play PAL as well as NTSC DVDs. I'm home now, and use it (still) as a backup machine. However I never used the battery, never even took it out of the box, so I can't testify as to it. I LOVE THIS MACHINE !!
Died after a few months at which time the battery only lasted an hour, not worth it.
The battery never held a charge. Sent message to customer service and never received a response. Wouldn't recommend this product or company.
I agree with all the other comments about this product not lasting very long. Ours worked fine for about a year then suddenly stopped playing for no reason. I called customer service and was basically told I was out of luck!
Apex may be an inexpensive alternative for those of us on a small budget, but mine broke within 7 months and they won't honor the one year warranty. They said it would cost 215 dollars plus shipping and handling to repair a manufacturers default( the plastic just fell apart). Considering I only paid 100 dollars, I told them they were crazy. Then when I asked to speak to a supervisor they hung up on me. I guess it was great while it lasted.
Just purchased GPX's PDL 805 to play Region 1 and 2 DVDs. The product description specifies it will play both NTSC and PAL. It DOES NOT. I tried to get technical support from the seller (no luck) AND from the maker - GPX.com. GPX's technical support told me it will play European DVDs only when ... hooked up to a PAL TV! Needless to say I didn't get a portable DVD player to keep it connected to a TV. What a bunch of nonsense. Don't buy it if you want to play PAL DVDs.
this motorized monitor is a great value it has everything u just need in ur car, dvd, vcd, mp3 and tv tuner, the sound is great, and the brightness of the screen is excellent even in the daylight and its too easy to use, too bad the border where the buttons are does not light which makes it difficult to use in the night; but with the remote control, its fine, i am really satisfied with pyle technology. the price is excellent too in comparison to other monitors. i would suggest they sell the monitor with a frame to hold it firmly in the car. i recommend anyone who wants a great monitor with a great price to go for it.
Even if mine had worked properly (it didn't) I probably would have still sent it back.

1) Video from the latest iPod models will not display on the LCD screen.
2) The unit protrudes too far from the cabinet if you leave room for the cable connection. My cabinets are standard 12 inches deep and the TV protrudes more than two inches. If your cabinets are deeper this won't be a problem for you.
3) Cheap plastic look and feel. For almost $400 it should be sturdier.

Mine was also defective - one of the speakers didn't work. However, it's very easy to return to Amazon so I would give Amazon 5 stars for customer service.
The DCD778 has performed adequately. The most important thing you should know is that the dock in this unit is NOT compatible with the new 3G iPod Nano (w/video) or new iPod Classic (also w/video). Apple apparently has changed the output port configuration and video will not be passed to the LCD screen of this unit. Apple's solution is to purchase a $50 cable and pump in the video into the composite and audio ports on the back. Not a very elegant solution.
Installation was mostly problem free although the template could have been more descriptive (just assume the outline of the unit is accurate, and align such that it will stick out as much as you desire from the cabinet per this outline) and my cabinet extends 0.75" below the attachment surface, so I ultimately didn't need any spacers - unfortunately I guessed it did and had to essentially install it twice. They could have easily told you that spacers are not required unless the cabinet front extends more than 0.75" below the attachment surface. You would think they would have you measure this distance and then either set the spacers accordingly or not use them at all as in my case.
I found the user guide is pretty accurate and well written - had no problem programming over the air both analog (NTSC) and digital (ATSC) channels. Appreciate the easy way you can skip channels after the programming because it will find channels outside your viewing area, that will be mostly snow - but can easily be marked to skip them. The video is adequate but it's not high def, and other reviewers comments about it's quality are pretty accurate. Not really their fault, but would have scored the unit one star higher had an iPod nano 3G had worked and would have given it 5 stars if the video had been better.
And to the person who couldn't find the DVD player I understand perfectly. It wasn't until I put it into DVD mode and hit the eject button that it became apparent that it was well hidden behind the display - which drops down. And to the person who complained about the red push, the unit does have picture adjustments for brightness, contrast, tint, and color using the remote. I found a decent picture with all the setting about mid range.
Bought this little Philips TV as a replacement for a 19 yr old GE Spacemaker 5" color tv. While that old one was good, it finally just died. The DCD778 was one of the few undercabinet models still available, and Amazon's price and guarantee was the best deal. Screen size of 8.5" is a big improvement, and picture clarity is at least as good as the prior TV (which was good for such a little screen). We do occasionally see some of the interference bands one other reviewer saw so heavily, but that does appear to be caused by an electromagnetic field from the FiOS converter box. Mounting the convertor box 15" away under the next cabinet reduced the interference such that it is not annoying, and mounting them both under the cabinets minimized the loss of space underneath or on the kitchen countertop. The swivel screen feature is just as good as the lazy susan bearing mounting I built for the prior TV, and eliminated the problems I had with the input coax cable hanging up on things as the TV swiveled. It's been operating for a month, and all indications are that it was worth the money.

so far I am satisfied, the item was easy to install under the cabinet, have a good TV signal and audio is what I expected. the DVD eject system is a little slow ejecting, but I can leave with it. I still believe i picked the best one out all the others I researched.
Where is the opening to put the DVD disc? Sounds pretty silly isn't it, but we have not been able to locate it. Ashok
Really worked out well. I love this company, its the third item I bought from them! So many options they dont even list em all in the item page
for $30 here is the good and bad of this player in human form :D

good:
pretty much skipless
loud volume for mp3's
plays .mp3,mp2 audio and .mpg video straight off a isoDVDFS (drop and burn with nero like a data dvd)
surpisingly clean picture for the size, i can read the titles for my mp3s on it
about the size of a gameboy advance

now the BAD
1. it doesnt charge the battery in the player so you either have to plug it in or take the battery and cord and hook it to the charger
2. the company website is for sale so if the battery pack goes out you will have to 'rebuild' the old one (around $10 to do if you have a old cellphone battery or 2)
no tv out (throw the disc in a dvd player and enjoy so not a biggie)

overall for $30 i am impressed, i use it more or less a a mp3 player than anything sees you can get 2.8GB dual layer dvds and it has to be pretty much slammed to skip. i also watch movies i make on it with little complaints even though they are out of spec (72 frames in a GOP,etc)

so knowing all that i would still buy it again

enjoy
Got these for my sons. Battery time is great, probably due to the small screens.

Note these play mini-DVDs (camcorder DVDs) - just pick up blanks at walmart, amazon, target, etc. and use DVD shrink to convert your regular DVDs.
Hi, I would just like to let anyone know who might be considering this product that I have written the manufacturer regarding replacement accessories (i.e. replacement battery, AC adapter...etc) and I was told that there are NO replacement accessories available for this model. It may not sound like a big deal but how good is a cute little take-along DVD player once the rechargable battery stops holding a charge and no replacements are available?? Kinda takes the "portable" out of the equation since your only option would be to plug it in when using it (not too handy in a car). While my previous review of this product was quite high, getting this information disgusted me such that I would not recommend this as a smart purchase because, in essence, you might as well consider it as a "disposable" DVD player since you have no way of replacing either the battery or AC adapter should they no longer work or if you lose them. In summary, unless you get this DIRT CHEAP, its not a wise investment!!!
The screen is to small and if you are willing to spend and extra $50 then got to costco and get a 7in screen that plays real dvds. Dont get this junk that will be around for no more than 6 months
I think this dvd player looks great! I do not have it but i might get it for x-mas. It looks good in the stores. If anoyone has any advice for me please tell. I do not know what portable dvd player to get for x-mas.
This Dual Audio receiver is exellent! Has two video inputs, video output, rear camera input, iplug, and so much more. The sound quality is exellent, the video quality is exellent, so many options you can do practily any audio/video setup with this unit.
the only bad thing about it that the frames actually come out a little bit and it's horrible to change a radio station
I've been around car stereos my entire life. At my age, I've seen a lot come and go. In short, if you are looking for a great head unit that performs as well as Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, Pioneer, etc., then this unit is it. I have this deck in my FJ Cruiser, along with 4 JL Audio 8" woofers, 2 sets of JL Audio components, and 4inch JL Audios in the dash. I am running a Fosgate amp on the woofers, and an Alphasonik amp on the components and dash speakers. My system is as clean and powerful as $10K+ plus systems I've heard. Get this unit - you will enjoy it.
I researched all brands of DVD players for at least two months before deciding on this Panasonic. I know Panasonic is a trusted brand, but I've never used any of their car equipment before. After all the research was done, I narrowed it down to just a few top choices. Then I began hunting for the best price. That was where I hit a few walls. I think having a DVD player in the car is great, but is it worth $800...? Not to me. After I came to the realization that I wasn't willing to pay that much money, my final decision was easy.. the Panasonic. I can't say enough good things about this product. It does everything that all the other top brands do and for half the price!! I know it might be hard to believe, but it's true. If you're in the market for a DVD player, take this one into serious consideration. I've been able to compare the picture quality to the other popular brands and this one is just as clear. The only thing I can warn any one about is that there is no GPS system for this player. Panasonic states they have plans for it in the future, but as far as I know now, there is none yet.

Bottom line, if you want a great DVD player, with out having to spend almost $1000, this is it. Trust me, I'm a research king and there's nothing else out there..
What are you waiting for, first off it's $700 cheaper than in the stores. And it's an great system.NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL.Everyone that gets in the truck is in love with this deck. And when you add the ipod feature which allows you to see and control everything on your pod.SIMPLY THE TRUTH........BUY NOW.
bad customer service its been almost a month and i still have not received this product. ive sent 3 emails and called twice noone really helped me with anything, neither did anyone answer the phones. i dont even know how to rate the item because i dont have it. im pretty sure its really nice its just ive been waiting for almost a month and this is getting frustrating with no help.
I have to say that it's my first in-dash DVD player and I was really amazed, all the functions and the big screen, very captivating !!!
Although I've been enjoying this unit for only two days, I rated it 5*, and could two remarks I could place that doesn't take anything from the set's capabilities :

1- When on AUX (wich I mostly use), the screen turns blue and stays blue, I think they can enhance it and add some EQ graph, wallpaper or screensaver or something like that (instead of having that blurry blue screen facing you all the time).
2- I don't know if it's my set or if it's suppose to be like that but I find the image on the screen from a DVD kind of dark, even with the brightness on full.

But I'm still happy with my acquisition (compared to the branded radios that carry the same options for twice and sometimes three times the price).

Enjoy !!!
I bought this item from tadibrothers direct site about 6 months ago and it has been the best investment I have made for a long time. I use it every time when I am in my car and I have never had one problem. Installation is a snap and the picture and sound quality is spectacular. I recommend this product to everyone who has a car.
I bought this car dvd player during January with my birthday money and it has been the hit of my block. Since then 3 of my friends have bought one and my dad ordered one last week. It works great with all my divx DVD's and was very easy to install, I just took out the old one and popped this puppy in. its also easy to use. My little brothers watch their cartoons on it and leave me alone when I get suckered in to taking them to school. Its exactly what I wanted. The backup camera is a great option to have too because I am a really bad parker ;-)
I love the quality of the screen and it really did work with all my DVD's including the ones I have from Japan. Ive had this one for over a year and I purchased one for my wife's car 3 months ago and it has been working great even with the backup camera that I installed my self.
Definitely a great buy!

Best Buy sells this for $500 and this is less than half the price with better value. The one I bought is working great. My friend bought one at Best Buy and he hates it.
This product exceeds expectations. It has much more features than advertised. In fact, the photos shown on site does not do justice to the product. The technology is excellent, especially the Bluetooth connection. Picture quality of screen is excellent, DVDs show perfectly.

Customer service was also excellent. We initially ordered the model without the Bluetooth but was upgraded to the this one because it was unavailable at the time. Seller was very accomodating and courteous.

I have no problems recommending anyone to purchase from Golden Harvest and will definitely buy from this seller again.
I bought this item a few weeks ago and it has been great. I had no problems installing the item and it has worked like a charm. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for an affordable card dvd player with cool extra features.
I really like the simplicity of this item. I did find their site and they sent me an email with their number when I had a few install questions. So far so good!
I got this as gift from my dad a few weeks ago and it has changes my life (driving wise) i can see all my favorite movies and when someone calls, the screen automatically changes to show me who is calling.
i hooked up my ipod and xbox to it a few days and it was so cool that i decided to write this review. im also an avid talk radio listener and love all the cool features it has. Thank you tadibrothers for making this DVD so easy to use!!!!!

The mic doesn't work, so you cant answer incoming calls when using bluetooth.
And every time you turn off the stereo, you loose all your settings (FM statios, audio stations, etc).
The user guide is terrible. And there is no site or phone for customer service.
Don't buy this equipment.
