Excellent on teaching children that their body belongs to them - and no one else. Discusses appropriate & inappropriate touches. Provides an example of a trusted neighbor who tricked and tried to inappropriately touch a child - all in child-friendly language and drawings. It also discusses when it is okay to be touched - bathing or when at the doctor's for a check-up. It is not scary, but matter-of-fact. We read this to our 4.5 & 3 year old daughters and have them practice saying STOP with an outstretched hand at appropriate parts of the book. Highly recommended.
This book is tastefully written, not scary, but led to good discussion about boundaries- with anyone he knows or doesn't know, and serious thought by my 3 1/2 year old son. He asks for the book about once a month, and refers to "touching problems" occasionally in general conversation, saying something like "you don't keep touching secrets and you say 'Stop it! I don't like that!' if someone tries to put their hand in your pants, and go tell Mom!"
It's a little shocking when your baby gets a grasp of something like that, but I'd really rather that be the case than the first time he knows of it is with a previously trusted person that betrays that trust. It's not graphic or detailed and doesn't attempt to explain why a pervert would do such a thing. It appears serious to him and has caused him to talk with me and plan his response (just like what to do if he became lost in a store), but it's no more scary to him just from reading about it and talking about it than a toothy shark or scary shadow in another book. I highly recommend this for parents brave enough to tackle this subject before your child starts attending birthday parties alone or going to neighbors' houses to play.
This book provides the details all parents need to have to protect thier children. It gives great tools for parents to use. I will purchase this book for all my friends as baby shower gifts!
This book helped to reinforce what I had already taught my 4-year-old son. He asked questions that he hadn't previously asked and opened up new discussion about the topic. It's well-written, common sense approach makes it easy for pre-schoolers to understand. The author is a therapist, which made me feel confident about the quality of the content.
My son and I read this book a couple of times a week. He even tells me now what he thinks is a "good touch" and a "bad touch". I recommend this to all parents!
George Seagal and Glenda Jackson are wonderful in this comedy about extramarital affairs. You also get to see a very young Paul Sorvino.
one of the most pretentious and exaggerating movies ever seen. the dialogue, the acting...whatever, all suck big time. everything in this movie looked unrealistic, not funny but pathetically pretentious and exaggerating to the extreme. that kinda performance would have won an oscar, yeah, right, maybe just because there were only worse pictures nominated in that year. what a hype.
I saw this movie when it first came out in the 70's and have seen it many times on and off for years. The movie is funny, but what makes it work is the two stars. George Segal (who never looked better) is in fine comedic form, and he and Glenda Jackson complement each other perfectly. She was especially singled out for critical acclaim -- some people compared her to Katharine Hepburn in Hepburn's comedic roles. The movie also affords a look at London in the early 70's. Because the actors work so well together, I would've liked a different (happier) ending for the movie. Still, after thirty years, "A Touch of Class" remains very watchable and poignant -- largely because of the two stars.
I did not like this movie. I know that times have changed and it would be revisionist to hold this movie to millennium standards of sexual conduct and infidelity. Nonetheless, I found it very disturbing: his lack of concern for his wife and children, how the wife was unsympathetic and one dimensional, and how absolutely de rigueur it was in the sixties for married men to have "a bit on the side." And what about her kids? apart from the first scene we never see them again; she instead seems to spend all her time cooking and keeping house for a married man. I'm not a prude, really, but this film left a bad taste in my mouth.
...and I'm not easy to please. It's strange when you realize just how sexy George Segal was. But the movie is wonderfully written, sharp, smart and incredibly funny. I saw another reviewer liked The Goodbye Girl better. I prefered this...Sharper, more biting, less sentimental. That doesn't mean it's heartless or even cynical, just that it's lacking in syrup. George Segal and Glenda Jackson have the all the chemistry and the comedic chops (and then some) needed to make this movie work. This movie made me laugh a lot, was sexy enough to warm any cold night and smart enough to make me feel like the people who made it figured I had at least a high school education. How come comedic movies this smart don't get made by the major studios anymore?
I used this with my daughter from the time her cord fell off until she was 9 months old and her feet were hanging off the front! Now I am using it with my son. I put it in the kitchen sink. On the other side of the sink, I keep a large bowl with warm water constantly running into it and a cup. I use the cup to keep pouring the water over the baby so that he doesn't get cold. I read a few reviews of people trying without much success to use this in the tub. It never occured to me to even put it in the tub! In the kitchen sink, I don't have to handle a slippery baby, the "dirty" water is running through the seat into the sink, and I just lift him up and lay him on his towel on the counter when I'm done. PLUS, the best part is that it is so easy on my back! Standing at the kitchen sink is far easier than trying to bend over a tub. That's why I used it for so long with my toddler! I plan on using it as long as I can with my son and I consistently give it as a shower gift. It's one of the best baby products I've used and both of my kids have loved their baths from the very start!
This item is useless for an infant. Once our son's cord fell off, and it was time for a bath, we put this chair in the tub. We had to fill the tub nearly 3/4 of the way for water to even reach half way up the chair. Then it started to float! We attempted to put our son on it and he just slid down and off of it! It is impossible for only one person to use this item, unless you are content with giving your child a sponge bath in the open air!
Looks like an expensive gift, but its affordable, makes a nice baby shower gift and you'll get alot of use out of it.
Like most reviewers, I too like this bather. It is much softer than the plastic tubs and folds for fairly easy storage (at least it is smaller to store than the plastic ones.) However, my son's little jaw chatters because he gets chilly because he is so far out of the water. I DO fill my tub up high with water, but the angle of the chair doesn't allow for him to have enough of his body safely submerged. I think it would be great for warmer weather, but January and February in the Midwest are cold.
I also wish that the manufacturer would make the washer and bold on the underside a plastic piece. It has rusted on my model too.
We are using this bather for our son who is one month old. What we like most about this bather is that the water drains away from the baby. The fabric is also very soft, quick drying, and removable for machine washing. The model we have does include straps that can be adjusted around the baby's waist. To keep him warm, we pour cupfuls of warm water on him throughout his bath. Since we don't fill up the tub with water, slippage has not been a problem.
These cloth books/rattles are AMAZING!!!!!!!!! They have beautiful, bright colors that attract babies sensory perception, delight their fine motor skills, etc.! I am planning on purchasing more sets after the holidays-just to have on hand for future family and friend baby shower gifts! My granddaughter LOVES these and they are portable so you can take them ANYWHERE! GUND really got it PERFECT when they created these little treasures for OUR little treasures! valilly
From it's bold, 'pop' style cover (literally), to it's cutting edge lyrics and upbeat fun musical style, "Artifically Flavored" is a flavor all it's own. It gets off to a great start with the title track - straightforward and honest lyrics, a funky beat, and a cry for a mutual desire we all have, not to mention a taste of what's to come. Next is "Are You Crazy" which is personally my worst song on the album. It has a fun melody but just sort of loses it's point in the midst of talk about Miss Daisy and stuff. "ICU" is a beautiful love song inspired by the music of my parents generation. This song stopped me in my tracks and made me think about what love really is. "Psycho Fan" follows that serious track, giving way to goofiness and a lot of laughs. The best part of this song is when the band begins to sing in Spanish... "One Sore Foot" is a major highlight on this album. Not only does it have a hardhitting, incredible message, but it is one of the most creative songs musically that I've come in contact with. At this point the listener is at an emotional high, and "Why" keeps you there, actually intensifying the emotion. It's a song about love, the purest kind. This song is one I can play over and over and never get bored with. The melody is simple, but the lyrics are amazing. This song is worth the price of the whole cd. "Retainer" takes you from that 'high' to a different level, more fun and a lot of real life! It's a song about a man in love, and a girl who doesn't like him... yet :-) This song is one my guy friends aren't allowed to forget. The best line of the song is "She hopes that greasy food will give me a heart attack!" "Blind Love" follows. This song is probably the 'rockiest' song on the track with a lot of drums. It's one of those great songs that sound like they only took three chords to write. But if anyone can pull that off it's JTRT... and they do it well, never straying from the underlying message that connects every song on this project. "Spine" closes out the pop-rock part of this cd, with a really special message, that I found personally I related to - "thank God, I think I have a spine." Just a great end to that part of the cd. To close off their cd, JTRT added a worship song, "You Are." At this point they take the focus off themselves, their guitars, their great drummer, and put it on God. Much like "Why", this song is worth being heard. Not to leave you hanging though, JTRT bounces back with a beat and the hidden track "YEAH" after "You Are." It's a song about a band trying to write a really good song... and it's catchy, and turns out to be a 'really good song.' It's also one of the most requested at their live shows. All in all, Just the Right Touch manages to do a fine job of mixing superb lyrics, nice rythem, and a great message. There's nothing "artificially flavored" about them!

Before our tiwns were born we were visiting friends whos 7 month old had this and just loved it! We were amazed at how much he loved to climb around on it and how huge it was! The colors were so bright, it was so soft, and it made diffrent nosies. After we had our twins they came to visit us and brought us one of these along as a gift! We were so happy, and hoped our children loved this as much as their son did!
We started to use this when they were learning to sit up and it came in great cuz of its size and how soft it was. It was something that if i wanted it downstairs all i had to do was throw it over the banister. Now at 6 months they are crawling all over this and are able to get the diffrent sounds to work. My sons fav spot is the Crinkle and my daughters is the Squeak.
My daughter received this as a present when she was born. As an infant, it was used mostly as decoration and as a play area barrier for her before she could crawl over it. Now that she is 4, she loves "riding" on it, making it make noises, and wrapping herself up in it. It sits on the floor of her room, and it looks great. My two year old loves it too. He talks about its colors and loves climbing all over it. My children have a lot of toys and this one guarantees the giggles.
The Catapillar is cute, and goes cute in his room which is bug themed. But it's size in impratical for him to play with at such a young age. But, it's cool anyway.
My son received one of the little ones and he loved the thing so much that I had to replace it twice. The crinkles are exciting for baby and when they learn how to make it squeek it is so fun. I would expect this huge one to be fun for the entire family or for families with several children.
My husband fell in love with this toy when he saw it in the store and just had to have it for our son. When my son was in the early stages of learning to sit on his own, we'd use it for support. I could wrap it around him, and he felt very secure. Now my son is 10 months old, and he loves to crawl all over it. It was a lot of money but well worth it.
